The company is run by a dedicated and experienced executive management team comprising the Managing Director and Chief of Finance, responsible for recruiting trained and expert staff to run the company’s various divisions.

Mike Lawson
Mike Lawson Board Chair
Mike Lawson is the CEO of SLA. Consolidated Limited, an Investment Holding Company for Global Insurance/Reinsurance ventures.

He is a qualified accountant with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and began his career in 1990. He has over 25 years of financial services experience, working in multiple areas of Structure Finance, including Commercial Banking Finance and Structured Corporate Finance.

He has held numerous senior positions in multinational banks, including; Lloyds Bank, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and Sanwa International, including the Head of Finance at Lloyds Corporate for Capital Markets and Head of Strategy in a sales and distribution role.

Webster Twaambo, Jr.
Webster Twaambo, Jr. Managing Director
A Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), Webster is a visionary and strategic leader with a strong background in general insurance spanning over 17 years.

He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and several other qualifications in insurance.

Webster’s career started at Professional Insurance Corporation Zambia Plc (PICZ), the leading general insurance company in Zambia, where he rose through the ranks to Executive Head – Branch Operations. In 2015, he was appointed as strategy implementation champion for PICZ, playing a pivotal role in strategy formulation and implementation. Further, Webster has a demonstrated history of working in the insurance industry, skilled in underwriting, financial risk, operations management, risk management, customer relationship management, strategic partnerships, and new product design and development.

As a prolific writer, public speaker, and philanthropist, Webster has contributed to the development of Zambia’s insurance industry and beyond. In 2013, he became the first Zambian to write a comprehensive book on insurance titled Basics of Insurance, The Zambian Experience. In 2018, Webster wrote his second book on insurance and went on to win the Africa Insurance Organisation (AIO) best book award for the year.

Chiluba Mumba
Chiluba Mumba Board Non Executive Director
Ms. Chiluba Mumba holds a Master of Laws Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of London, a Bachelor of laws degree from the University of Zambia (UNZA).

Ms. Chiluba Mumba holds a Master of Laws Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law from the University of London, a Bachelor of laws degree from the University of Zambia (UNZA).

She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in International Business Law and Postgraduate Certificate in International Commercial Arbitration from the University of London. She has also pursued professional courses in Corporate Governance, International Comparative Banking Regulation and leadership.

Ms. Mumba is the Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Equitas Legal Practitioners in Lusaka Zambia, an Advocate of the High Court for Zambia and all the Superior Courts in Zambia, and a Member of the Law Association of Zambia.

Danny Joffe
Danny Joffe Board Non Executive Director
Danny Joffe began his career with Aegis Insurance Company in SA in 1996 as a legal advisor after completing his law degree and a Master of Laws in Insurance and Company Law.

Danny worked for the Hartford Steam Boiler for three years before joining the Hollard Insurance Company in South Africa, where he currently heads up its legal division in the non-life space.

Danny sits on insurance agents and company boards in South Africa and has specialised in regulatory governance.

He is also chair of Aurora, an insurance company in South Africa that specialises in court bonds.

Matete Sichizya Chief Financial Officer
Matete Sichizya is a seasoned senior executive with continuous work experience spanning over 18 years in financial services, insurance and pensions.

He joins Klapton Re from a leading multinational life insurer where he was Chief Operating Officer.

Prior to that, he worked for other leading organisations, including a multinational life insurance company, where he served as Chief Financial Officer for over five years. Matete has successfully pioneered and led several transformational projects.

Matete, a Chartered Accountant, holds a degree in Accountancy and is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants. He has also received executive leadership training with the University of Oxford (UK) and several other professional development courses.

Riding on his experience in strategic financial management, running operations of the green field and well-established businesses, and knowledge of the insurance industry, Matete is set to bring this value to Klapton Re.

Cynthia Simeza
Cynthia Simeza Chief Operating Officer
With 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, Ms Cynthia Simeza is a seasoned insurance professional with expertise in underwriting, claims and marketing.

Prior to joining Klapton Reinsurance Limited, Ms Simeza held several senior and executive roles at Professional Insurance Corporation Zambia Plc, a leading general insurance company in Zambia.

Ms Simeza has risk management as well as loss assessment experience, she has managed a diverse portfolio of clients with her experience ranging from private individuals to the private and public sectors including local corporations, multinationals, government organizations, financial institutions, Non-Governmental Organizations extending to Small/Medium Enterprises.

Ms Simeza is a Chartered Insurer who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Zambia, three post-graduate diplomas, including two from the Chartered Insurance Institute (UK), and she has undertaken the University of Cape Town -Graduate School of Business Executive Education course.
She is a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of Zambia, and an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Tionge Simbeye
Tionge Simbeye Head of Underwriting
Tionge Simbeye has 11 years of experience in the insurance industry, most of which eight years has been served in reinsurance departments.

He started his career as a graduate technician in the underwriting department at NICO Insurance Zambia Limited, where he rose to the level of superintendent in the reinsurance department.

He then joined Prima Reinsurance Plc (now Zambian Re Plc) as Head of Treaty and Facultative Business, servicing cedants locally and abroad. He later re-joined NICO Insurance Zambia Limited as Reinsurance and Specialised Risks manager from the reinsurance company, serving over four years of risk underwriting and reinsurance.

Tionge is a graduate from the University of Zambia with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics and a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), United Kingdom, with a Diploma in Insurance (Dip CII), while currently pursuing the full qualification. He enjoys the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) and Insurers Institute of Zambia (IIZA) memberships.

Musonda Chisanga
Musonda Chisanga Financial Controller
Musonda has ten years of external audit experience with the international audit firm KPMG in Zambia and the United Kingdom.

He has overseen the management of numerous audits in various financial services sectors such as banking, investment management, insurance, and reinsurance.

He also served as Head of Finance and Administration at Thebe Investments Limited, developers of the Nkwashi Housing project during its start-up phase responsible for establishing the finance department.

Musonda is a qualified Chartered Accountant, a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA-UK), and a Zambian Institute of Chartered Accountants member. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Monash University South Africa.

Rex Mudenda
Rex Mudenda Manager Risk and Compliance
He joins Klapton Re from one of the most innovative insurance organisations in Africa where he was interim Governance & Control Manager.

Prior to that, he worked for two leading giants in the banking sector, Barclays Bank and Absa Bank, where he served in the last position as IT Business Partner with a focus on Retail and Business Banking. He was part of the development team that built e-TAX and e-NAPSA digital platforms, for statutory tax and employee benefits collections respectively under the Barclays Bank brand in Zambia.

Rex, a Governance, Risk and Compliance Professional, holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing from the University of Greenwich. He later studied for a Post Graduate Certificate in Risk Management at Zambia Institute of Banking and Financial Services (ZIBFS). He additionally holds a Certificate in Business Risk Management from the University of Cape Town – UCT GSB. As well as various professional studies in Customer Due Diligence and Onboarding, Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Terrorist Financing and IT Risk Governance.

He brings solid knowledge to Klapton Re on matters of Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Strategic Planning for organisational growth.

He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Risk Management in Zambia as well as an Ordinary Member of Insurance Institute of Zambia.

Mukuma Musenge
Mukuma Musenge IT Manager
Mukuma joins Klapton Re from one of Zambia's largest data centre services providers, where he was leading the software development team.

Before this, he worked for an international non-profit on a team implementing Human Resource Information Systems across Zambia with a keen focus on centralising & analysing data to provide business intelligence for the Ministry of Health.

Mukuma also worked for Zambia’s top general insurance service providers for three years as a systems administrator and software developer.

He holds a degree in Computer Science from the University of Zambia and is a member of Zambia’s Information and Communications Technology Association.

Robert Sichilimba
Robert has a wealth of experience in insurance and reinsurance spanning over 35 years having started his career in insurance in Zambia State Insurance Corporation Ltd in 1977.

He successfully headed the setting up of the first domiciled reinsurance company in Zambia namely, Emeritus Reinsurance Company Ltd, formerly Zambian Reinsurance Company Limited which started trading in April 1999. He served on the Boards of Zambian Investment Holdings Ltd, Zambian Re, as a non-Executive Director for two years and First Reinsurance Company domiciled in Botswana. He also served as one of the first five members of the Disciplinary Committee of the Insurers Association of Zambia.

Robert Bygrave
Rob qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 with an accountancy firm based in Bedfordshire. Post qualification, he moved into the Financial Services arena...

where he has remained for his entire subsequent working career, into a finance role at the Equitable Life Assurance Society. After a couple of years there he moved to a role in the City with Deutsche Bank where he spent 5 years in the role of Head of Management and Financial Reporting for the London Branch. Whilst at Deutsche he was also heavily involved in a number of projects including the NYSE listing and SAP implementation.

After leaving Deutsche Bank he moved to a role with CSC, where he headed the finance function for outsourced finance, back office, and actuarial services for a number of large financial institutions and then took up a role was at Raiffaisen International Bank where he was Head of Finance for the London branch which primarily traded FX, Bond and Money Market products.

Subsequently he worked for Standard Chartered Bank, where he was Head of Finance for Wholesale Banking for Africa, a role in which he was responsible for the finance functions in 14 countries pan-Africa including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Africa, with over 25 staff reporting to him.

He then spent over 5 years at Altium Capital Limited, a corporate finance investment house, where he was Group Financial Controller and Interim Finance Director, with responsibility for all financial, management and regulatory reporting, together with a number of system implementations and set up back-office support to incubation businesses.

For the past 5 years he has been Group Finance Director at Global Ridgeway Holdings Limited, a group of companies which hold investments globally in insurance companies, insurance brokers and property. He joined the business in its early stages and implemented the entire back-office function. Whilst in this role he has been heavily involved in due diligence work on assessing potential investments and also assisted in successfully listed a Group company on a European Stock Exchange.

Maulu Hamunjele
Maulu O. Hamunjele is a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (FZICA) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) of the United Kingdom.

In addition, Maulu holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the Edinburgh Business School of Scotland.
He has vast experience in finance, audit, investment, and risk management gained over a wide spectrum of businesses. Maulu worked for the Bank of Zambia for over twenty years in financial regulation and compliance. He served on several boards that include the boards of Lusaka Securities and Exchange, ZICA and Kwacha Pension Trust Fund. In the early days of his career, Maulu gained audit and business consultancy experience at Coopers and Lybrand and Price Waterhouse and worked as Finance Manager for Tanzania Zambia Railway Authority (TAZARA) in Mpika, Zambia.

Vikali Mwale
Vikali Mwale
Vikali is a competent and diligent professional having diverse experience in the areas of human resource management, Strategic Organisation Management, Corporate Governance affairs;

including corporate reputation management, company secretarial practice and regulation management, she has hands wide experience in Human Resources Management and administration of large and small corporations in a wide range of industries including mining, insurance, financial institutions, education and utility organizations. In addition to the above attributes, she brings to Klapton Re her wide experience in company secretarial practice, corporate governance issues and strategic management practice coupled with a very solid background in cost effective management of human resources to ensure the achievement of strategic objectives.
Vikali has strong leadership capabilities with excellent ability to coordinate with different people, and has the capacity to bring out the best in others while creating a healthy and friendly work environment as a human resources management practitioner; thus enhancing operational efficiency and optimizing resource utilization. She is multi skilled with strong conceptual, analytical, evaluative and communications skills.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Zambia and an MBA from the Zambia Open University. Driven by her desire to share knowledge, Vikali recently obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Teaching Methodology to help with the part-time lecturing she does from time to time. She is a full member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management and the Institute of Directors of Zambia.
